Hey Guys,
Well today I was in a good mood and decided to tackle this job.
0. Remove belt/tensioner
1. Remove power steering bracket
2. Remove intake hoses
3. Remove Alternator
4. Remove 2 10mm Oil trap Bolts
5. Pull oil trap hoses off (three hoses in total)
6. I was able to pull the small oil trap hose off without removing torx, then torx came out easy (also pointed towards firewall.
Hardest part was pulling the lower hose from the oil pan area near the dip stick. That was a nightmare, a lot of tugging, but it gave up eventually.
I wonder how many hours the dealer charges for this, so far I have 2.5 hours and thats only to take everything off.
Did you guys use gear clamps or ointker?? I need to go see how the pliars come, because the one near the oil pan would be a pain....
It is not that bad (so far), however if have never removed the alternator before,good luck!! luckily I did it last winter.
Mine was not leaking, but I just want to reduce oil consumption and risk of plugged oil trap. If you look at the hoses you can see how much buildup there is, its like a plugged artery almost, hehe....
I really do not think it is possible to properly clean this, and the hoses are rock hard so they do need to be replaced. I will be ordering all the parts tomorrow, so I should have it by Thursday (luckyily I don't need the car and holidays started)
