I replaced all the oeticker clamps with regular gear clamps. I made sure that they were the type that use a hex head that's slotted for a flat-blade screw driver, too. I figured it doubled my chances of being able to put it all back together easily. The only hassle is making sure you your clamps aren't rattling against the Knock sensor. Speaking of which, don't forget, you're right next door to the knock sensor (there's a whole indian raindance that comes with replacing that thing properly, as I've learned). You might want to replace that bastard while you're in there. Remember, clock it to the 5-o'clock position and 11-lbs of torque. (at least that's what I hear around these parts.)
Here's something Kenner and I did differently on reassembly: I used no clamps on the lower hose running between the engine and oil trap. It's heresy, I know. But here's my reasoning: You'll see that the replacement hose from the dealer is NOTHING like the one that piece of shit you pulled off with the clamps. It's essentially a piece of rubber hose sheathed inside a metal cylinder. Essentially, that metal cylinder does all the clamping for you. I know this because I was wondering what good a screw clamp would do on a piece of metal tubing (there's a reason plumbers don't do this to make connections) and decided to try it out. To test my theory, I put the new hose on the oil trap (before it went back into the car), then I put the old torx-screw clamps over it, and I proceeded to tighten it down as hard as the screw could possibly go. I wanted to see if they added any clamping force to the hose. My findings: nothing. With the torx screw fully tightened, I was able to pull the hose off the oil trap using as much (or as little, depending on how you want to look at it) force as it required without the clamp. So I chuckled approvingly to myself and threw those clamps back into my toolbox for the next time I need them.
Anyway, not saying you have to go the same route as me, just giving you something to consider. You might learn something to the contrary that will make me regret my whole decision.
Good luck. It's another 2.5 hours putting it all back together.
