I tried using the solvent/oil method (WD40) method and was unable to find my vacuum leak; I only found the leaks by noticing dark stains around the PCV nipple and manifold plug on my otherwise clean and shiny intake manifold.
In the end, I aggressively resealed everyplace that might be a leak with permatex, and the problem went away. My fuel economy about doubled, too.
One thing I observed with my wideband AFR gauge, when I still had the leak, was that the needle would peg at the leanest extreme when I would let my foot of the gas. Now that the leaks have been fixed, the needle still shows the mixture going lean if I let my foot off the gas, but it is only going to around 14 or so, instead of 18+. I should probably recalibrate my gauge now that I've fixed the leaks.
