bosch electronic ignition in 142 problem 140-160

Firing order is 1-3-4-2 counter clockwise (CCW).

Setting Static Timing:

Here is link to a thread that shows how to do it with pictures:

http://mkjtang.blogspot.com/2010/03/static-timing-b18b20-engine.html

->Remember that the crank rotates twice for every rotation of the distributor. That is why you need to make sure the valves on #1 is closed (picture 2) (because the crank can show "0" twice on the timing mark (picture 1), and if #1 isn't closed on "0", than your 180 degrees out).

Once you have the engine at TDC, the rotor should be pointed to #1 spark plug wire on the cap (picture 3). If not, move the spark plug wire for #1 to that position on the distributor cap.

Here is a picture of how the spark plug wires are setup. Note: that #1 plug wire on the distributor cap is not in the same position as the distributor cap diagram on the bottom. That is because some previous person installed the distributor drive gear in wrong, and they were too lazy to pull the drive gear back out and install it correctly. But as long as the engine is at TDC, the rotor is lined up with the #1 spark plug wire on the cap, and the rest of the wires are setup as 1-3-4-2 CCW, it should fire up to get a timing light on to it.
