This may be totally left field but have you checked the dampers? They should be oiled up and give the pistons a nice smooth resistance when lifting with a finger.
Other than that, have you pulled the fuel line and put it in a large jar and cranked the starter long enough to verify continuous fuel delivery. Just a thought.
