question 200

using an acetylene torch requires two people.

grab the stud with a pair of vise grips. have good leather gloves on.

have the torch holder apply heat to the head around the stud but not touching the stud. the point is to heat the aluminum holding the stud in place

this heat MUST be moved constantly. aluminum will not so much melt as it will all of a sudden lose all integrity. ergo NEVER leave the heat to concentrate. when in doubt remove the heat. better to underheat the head.

it never takes long to pull a stud with this method but it can not be done properly by yourself.
