I just simply strapped on a cylinder shaped K&N filter that I used to have on my Miata. It fits perfectly between the MAF and the what is left of the filter box, I find it doesn't move around at all and still has access to some of the cooler air coming in from the front.
On the whole, hot or cold weather, the engine definitely has a tiny bit more power in the mid range and high end that you can feel. The noise is only evident when at 3/4 or more throttle, I dont care for it, especially with an automatic, but it is not as loud as on other cars I've heard such setups on. The Miata routinely scared the pants off other drivers with this thing on. I still us a K&N on the Miata but it is a panel type that fits inside the OEM air box.
I wont go back.
If anyone wants the K&N part number just email me, I'll have to go take it off to read it.
