My 1990 745 Turbo with 180,000 let me down today. I drove it to lunch and drove it back to work. It ran fine. When it was time to go home, it would not start. What I did:
1.switched out the fuel pump relay: no start
2.switched out the square white relay: no start
3.switched out the radio suppresion relays: no start
4.checked out all coil & plug wires: no start
5.unplugged the air mass meter connector: no start
6.pluggled the air mass metet connector in: no start
7.waited 1 1/2 hours for the wrecker and repeatedly tried to start it: no start
8.my daughter came to pick me up and tried it one more time it STARTED
9. It put out some white smoke but ran well
10. I drove it hard and took it to the mechanic and it ran well.
11. Mechanic says he wished it had not started because it makes it harder to find the problem.
12. It did this once before about a year ago. It would not start for about 3 weeks and then one day it started and has run fine since then.
What could be wrong with it?
