It has me puzzled, any ideas? 700 1990

check the coil, check the wire from the coil to the distro
check the hall sensor ... (don't think the 90's had the sensor on the tranny...)
Pull the hose going to the intake of the throttle body from the egr and
see if it's full of oil sludge....
