This is a long shot but my old departed 145 did that usually after I repaired some non-engine part, like the steering box. Wait a day or so and it would start right up. After much head scratching by the dealer and me, it turned out to be a bad metal to metal contact of the distributor body to the block. It seems that anytime I banged around on the car, it would upset the ground contact. The 740 distributor is mounted on the head but you never know, it could be a flakey ground somewhere.
