Multilink to straight axle?

Using the Ford AOD. I believe it has a .7:1 overdrive. With this size engine (393) and all of its bolt on goodies its pushing the 500 h.p. mark. And with all of the gobs of torque at the crack of the throttle I don't think going to a 2.73 will result in much, if any, loss in acceleration times. It sounds like a high ratio, but this is what most 5.0 mustangs came through with and they were pretty quick. I think its ultimate high speed cruising and fuel mileage that this customer is most interested in.
