LHH.

The headlight switch on the early build S70's, like mine, was defective and the plastic housing disintegrates over time and the components come loose.

It may be that the housing was the same on your 850 since the conversion to the S70 (870) was a running change.

Sounds like you're on the right track with either the light switch or the dimmer switch.

BTW you would "fish" from the speaker opening or the side defroster vent opening. The duct is a solid piece and it would be virtually impossible for a loose part to end up there, unless someone pushed it in through the vent.
