What is the Matter w/ VOLVO?

Hi Volvo850...

Just curious if you've replaced the struts and mounts. At 150,000 miles the originals would be well worn out. Does it track well? Has the car ever been in a major accident? What size wheels and tires are on it?

I'm wondering where the $3K went?.. what repairs were done?.. that's a heap of change.

On the other hand, I am the second owner of a turbo wagon, and drive on the pot holes of New York every day. It's a slightly tighter suspension than on the normally aspirated cars, but a whole lot softer than the "R" models. Mine doesn't "crash" on sharp holes, but it sure isn't a Lexus! In fact, I find it hard enough that I drive it more like a motorcycle... I'm extra vigilant for those sharp edges, and definitely drive around the big ones, not over them.

I'd recommend that, since you've owned Volvos before, you should trust your judgement with regard to ride and handling expectations. Yes, the 850s ride hard, and a turbo wagon rides quite a bit harder than a 240, but no, except for the "R" models, they aren't as bad as you're describing. Something is wrong.
