I've replaced a standard D-jet pump with a "universal" rotary vane pump made by MSD, which I got from Summit Racing for under $100 including the mounting brackets. A minimal amount of fiddling with fittings and wiring is necessary.
BTW, rotary pumps don't make pressure, the flow volume. It's the restriction of the pressure regulator that generates all the pressure. You just need a pump that flows enough volume. The 64 PSI rating of the stock pump is the point where the internal relief valve kicks in in case there's a complete blockage of the system.
