Not sure how a 140 is rigged, but on the 1800ES I put the MSD pump on, the outlet fitting on the tank was larger than the input fitting on the pump. It was easy to change the fitting on the tank to a matching size.

The other trick was that the polarity of the two terminals on the pump was not marked. If it runs but doesn't pump gas, switch the wires.
