The driver's side door on my 1990 240DL Wagon has become intermittently very difficult to open. When I pull the handle, either from the inside or the outside, I'm met with a lot of resistance. If I push (from the outside) or pull (from the inside) on the door, it opens without difficulty.
I recently replaced the outer door handle, though I'm not dure why, for one thing, this would effect the operation of the inner door handle, and for another thing, why any problem with the door handle would be assuaged by putting pressure on the door itself. I must admit, though, that I didn't have trouble opening the door before replacing the handle. I know that the point where the handle hooks onto the rest of the mechanism is adjustable. Is there, perhaps, something I should do here?
By the way, I replaced the door handle because the stop pin was broken off. It was more of an aesthetic issue than anything else.
Any help would be much appreciated.
