Try loosen the screws holding the latch bolt onto the door frame. Then you maybe can slide it outwards a hair, giving less tension on the system when door is shut.

Just loosen the screws, don't remove. I think they screw into a sliding plate on the back side.

No longer commuting to MA. Been working just slightly closer to home in CT. Still about a 1 hr. drive!
