Wait a minute... 140-160

in what i have seen on almost all motors that get longer rods is that the torque is only affected at idle to at most 3000rpms

Is this info from genuine 'back to back' or 'side by side' testing?

We've actually done the comparison & our experiences (me & my local B20/B30 friends) indicate that differences aren't anywhere near what you are suggesting.

much agreed on the cam. as little overlap as possible would be ideal.

That's where the rod ratio factor kicks in. More than anything, rod ratio affects breathing around TDC. Longer rod ratios have a very similar effect to closing up the lobe centres of the cam.

do you think that the b30 f head with the exhaust taken to 38mm would be that weak?

It depends how long you want the thing to run for. Given that he only wants 350-400 BHP, I assume that he's building a road car engine which.

the heads kg trimning is producing for turbo b30's keep the stock intake valve 44mm and take the exhaust up to 38.5 or 40mm.

I don't see the point in using the 44mm inlet with a turbo motor.
