940 In-Tank Fuel Pump Failure: Some Pics

I opened the 200K Regina pump mentioned above for some pictures. #1 shows the commutator wear—about .065" measured by vernier calipers. The remaining groove depth looks like about .025" or less.

I think the opposing darker surfaces in picture #1 may be the "dead zone" that caused the no-start, especially when looking at the shorter brush in picture #2, which picture #3 shows as making only about 25% contact.

Wonder what an ammeter would have shown when it was running?
