last night i got a handful of mV from the battery -ve to the alternator body. I'm starting to think I may just pull the alternator off and take it to Auto Zone or Advanced auto and have them test it, just to rule that out. I can at the same time then check/clean the wires, connectors, belt, take a look at the brush contact points etc etc. But of course would like to avoid all of that if possible >>!
