Realize you were not asking me, but I can think of a reason. I have a transmission jack, smooth floor to use it on, extra jack stands, and don't mind so much being under a car for more time than just to disconnect a driveshaft, but have long ago junked an ancient engine crane. Now, if I didn't have the transmission jack, wanted to clean up the motor, had that old crane, room in front of the car, and an opportunity to work standing up...
