More tranny bits M41...Attn: Peter

Well...I'm not the one that will actually be doing the teardown...or rebuild. I was just sorta figuring though that...if the bearings are OK, and re-usable (specailly if I can't find new ones), why take 'em out at all.

My thought on the procedure... REmove selecter rods, remove main shaft. Then remove/replace reverse gear. Layshaft should be able to stay in place.

If...the main shaft can be removed without dropping the layshaft as you mentioned that is....

I'll keep you updated. I sorta doubt teh VOlvo guy doing the work would even be willing to do it my way though. And I don't feel confindent enough to try it myself. I want to be sure this thing is done right. Maybe I'll try another teardown of a different box for my own experimentation/education another time....

-Matt
