Merry Christmas to you, and to address your problem, I think your radiator is starting to clog up or is getting ready to fail.. Had the same thing happen to me back years ago and all the points that you have indicated leeds me to that conclusion. You may be able to flush the thing out, but as old as it is you will probally be better off with a new one.
