Re: lights constantly burning out S70 99

Hi Barry,

If you are using the DTR (DayTime Running lights) feature then expect to do head light replace more often then car with out DTR. With DTR your lights are on all the time hence you use up the bulb life faster.

Some Car Manufactures run the DTR at 1/2 power in the daytime (GM) and run the Headlights full power at night. This helps in the life expectancy of the bulbs.

My Dealer added a short cable to the headlights on my 99 XC last spring. I being a nosey Engineer went and took the cable apart. I found no reason other then it adds some length to the existing cable. I did check to see if the added cable changed the light out put. Again I found no difference between a head light (left side) with the cable and a headlight (right side) with out the cable. If anyone has an idea as to why Volvo added the cable I would love to hear it.

Good Luck,

Steven---

P.S. Don’t buy cheep bulbs. Philips (SP?) and GE make good bulbs.
