I would send them a registered letter requesting proof of what they sold your car for.

I would offer to take that amount, plus $1000 and interest equal to the highest rate you can find for a 3 or 4 year CD from the day you tendered your payment.

I would also inform them that you will begin to add a car rental charge of xx dollars for each day after May first.
