'93 240 wagon for son's first car 200 1993

Have you considered a 740 or 940? Should be a dime a dozen for those. Just as good (I'd say better) than the 240, and a smidge safer, especially 1993 and later. The 240 isn't the be all and end all of safety like it used to be.

Also, mileage is meaningless on 240/740/940's as long as they're in pretty good shape. Two of our cars have over 300K miles, and they've been a dream to own. Higher mileage on well maintained cars is *good* actually, as it scares off a lot of other prospective buyers, which means you can pick up the car that much cheaper. You're holding all of the cards.

Also, don't restrict yourself to a '93. Newer doesn't necessarily translate to better with these cars. As with lower mileage, there's definitely a premium you pay for "slightly newer". A premium that likely won't translate into any sort of real world benefit.

Once you broaden your mileage and model year sights, you'll probably find nice specimens around or under $2,000.

Good luck!
