"Where is the pin you are speaking of?"
Disconnect the battery. Remove the two nuts and washers on the back side of the speedometer pod that hold it in place. There is one on each side, 7/16", I think.
Move the speedometer back to create a gap between the gauge pod and the dash. Now you can peer down on top of the ignition switch. Do you see it? It is just a little pin sticking out at about the 11 o'clock position. It is spring loaded. With the key in any position except ON, that pin will not push down. If the ignition barrel is in the ON position pushing down on that pin with a screwdriver or drift until it can clear the switch body will release the barrel and it will come out the front of the ignition assembly.
