Locksmith woes 444-544

I agree; using a screwdriver to turn the cylinder may damage the switch assembly. My thought on this is that perhaps the reason there was no key to convey in the sale was because the key was broken off in the switch. If that is the case, a screwdriver just might turn the barrel. It isn't likely though; even a locksmith who had never seen the switch before would have noticed a key in the slot.

Try persuading the cylinder to turn with a screwdriver. If it will not turn with moderate force, stop that effort and drill it.
