Jan,
Before you start forcing with a screwdriver, or drilling, google "Pick Lock". Lots of possibly useable stuff will come up. I've never picked a lock myself, but if I couldn't find a competent locksmith, and contemplating the alternatives, I'd be willing invest a fair amount of time in learning how to do it.
