The '65 has a trunk? Well of course it has a trunk. Same kind of trunk as all the other PV series cars built between 1944 and 1965.
Wrong locksmith. Unfortunate.
I can't keep track of the number of times people have come up to me and asked how long I've owned my "Volvo B18." I tell them it's a 444. They assert that the one they used to own was a B18, but that theirs had bigger tail lights and different front and rear windows.
Forcing the cylinder with a screwdriver is tough, and may not work at all. If you decide to go this route, use a Craftsman screwdriver - they have square shafts, which are easy to fit a wrench onto, which then makes it easy to apply a huge amount of torque, which does one of two things: it turns the cylinder so that you can then remove it; or it damages the switch such that you have to replace the whole mess.
I'd drill it. No damage to anything other than the cylinder, which is easily replaced.
