As others suggest, it does sound like a bad connection.
Make sure that the -ve battery post is grounded to the body and then the block. Maybe the next time this happens, use a jumper cable between the battery post and the block to provide an extra path in case the primary one is bad.
There's also the +ve red cable that has to be well connected to the starter and then under the front of the engine to the alternator. Sometimes under the block it gets damaged.
Also, there is a small grounding strap that attaches the cam cover to the firewall. Check that. For some reason it too is necessary.
