First of all, good to hear from you again. I was actually hoping you would jump in on this thread.
About 8 months ago, I did replace the battery cables and purchased them from FCP Groton.
Since that time I did get some pretty serious corrosion growing on my battery posts and let it ride for a few months before cleaning it up. Is it possible that this corrosion has migrated beneath the insulation on the cable?
As for jumping the car, I have always hooked the cables to the posts on the battery, both on the receiving and donor vehicles.
If you feel certain that this is a classic symptom of a battery cable problem I will definately mention it to the mechanic. You have never steered me wrong before and he is willing to track this problem down at no extra charge.
