Intermittent electrical problem 200 1986

Yeah, I've thought about that, Art. I have no idea what's happening with the lights.
Could it be the ground wire from the alternator to the frame? It wouldn't take long to remove it and give it a good cleaning if you think that could be the problem. I've also wondered about the electrical part of the ignition switch.
If you are certain that it's the exciter wire, I can try running another wire to verify it.
The reason that I dont suspect the regulator is because this is a problem that I've had since owning the car and it continued even after having the alternator rebuilt and the regulator replaced.
Also, this problem was present both before and after replacing the engine wiring harness.
As I said before, it is intermittent. I'd say that over 80% of the time I do get all of the lights when I turn the key.
Now having said that, last night I started the car to pull it into the garage and only got the oil light. I then turned the key on and off several times and got every light, every time.
As usual, I'm confused. :-)
I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Dave
