Re: Flame on 700 1991

This may be true where you have been but certainly is not always true.

I am a service writer and DO have technical experience (something like 10 years auto tech / 6 years APACHE helicopter mechanic) A service writer who simply enters large numbers of "line items" and does not get all the facts on drivability concerns is probably 1-2 feet from being tossed out the door, permanently. Furthermore - technicians at the dealers I have service written at do not pay technicians a "cut" of parts installed, just simple flat rate. My drivability techs earn $80-100,000 per year on their hourly flat rate & get no "cut" to hang new parts. We all know that consumers pay a premium to have their car dealer serviced, this should be no big secret. What is surprising is the amount of people who really just want to know "when will my car be ready?" & thats all they care about ! Dealerships are always going to be around as long as there are manufacturers, the sad reality is most journeyman technicians dont work at the dealers too much anymore,(reduced warranty flat rate time for techs)

so .... do what everyone else here does.....use the brickboard to diagnose and fix your own car, or find reputable independent & look at the bright side, you dont drive a ford ! (right?)
