How do i check my coil? 1800

Yes, points.
If your points are installed with a small bolt thru the body of the distributor ('68 or so and older), the points are probably "grounded out" (bolt touching the body of the distributor-it shouldn't. Again, the bolt should not touch the body of the distributor, it should touch the wire and the points only)
The spark STARTS there, goes up the little wire to the coil then gets turned into a BIG spark and back out the big coil wire to be distributed.
