Higher speed miss 444-544

I had a very similar issue this morning on my way to work... It was fine downhill at any speed, but under load going up hill, or even on level ground, it was cutting out terribly. My first thought was points closed up, which I checked, and they were fine.

Then, in putting the rotor back on, and twisting it a bit as usual, I heard a clicking noise... sure enough, missing a return spring on the centrifugal advance. I put in a spare distributor (always carry on if you got one), and it ran fine the rest of the day...well, except I'll have my usual couple days of fine tuning the timing again. Though I can't be sure that was *the* problem, is was definitely *a* problem that needed to be addessed.

Just a thought... check your advance mechanism.
