Try to avoid shot-peening the early B20 rods, that destroys the factory heat treatment which is superior to shot-peening. Only shot-peen if you have lightened & polished them, which would be illegal in ITB. Best bet for ITB legal rods would be to raid a set from a B20A.

The Late B20/B21/B23 rods should be peened, especially in the counter bore where the head of the stupid looking rod bolt is seated, as that is where they break.
