Fortunate, indeed. :)

But about those head gasket thicknesses... I'm looking at a Jen-U-Wine Volvo 1971 140 service manual, and it says the B and E used the same gasket.

To wit:

B20A
2 mm (0.08")
loaded 1.65 mm (0.065")

B20B and B20E
0.9 mm (0.031")
loaded 0.8 mm (0.028")

According to the '71 manual, the B20A used a 3.41" head with the thick gasket, the B20B used the same head with the thin gasket, and the B20E used the thin head (3.33") with the thin gasket. This would appear to make sense, as the CR's were 8.7, 9.3, & 10.5 to 1 on the 1971 B20A, B, and E, respectively.
