The title says most of it. I've been looking for an old project Volvo to baby and love like they deserve. My first car was a 1980 245, and I fell in love with it; pouring tons of blood, sweat, and tears into all the typical repairs. Now I own a 99 V70 as a daily driver, but miss the old Volvo; the REAL Volvo, and have been looking for a similar vintage 1 or 2 series.
I've found a 68' 145S, white with tan interior, M40 and B18 with dual SU carbs. I've had tons of experience with the B21F in my 245, but absolutely none with the pushrod B18, nor have I ever owned a carbureted car.
What things should I be thinking about when looking at the 140's mechanically? Common failures, common issues? What kind of drivability and durability do the B18's have compared with the later B21F's? Are they totally different beasts?
Essentially, I'm a veteran 240 owner trying to figure out how much of my experience translates, and what new things I should consider when diving into the 140's. Any and all opinions appreciated, especially from brickboarders that own or have owned both!
