Thinking about getting a 68' 145S, what should I be thinking about 140-160 1968

It's clear I know less about these engines then I thought. I didn't think they had a cam shaft at all. You're saying there's a timing gear spun by the crank shaft that turns a cam shaft. Are there push rods at all?

Is it reasonable for me to think about a complete top end rebuild? Is there anything I couldn't do myself as a pretty experienced at home mechanic?
