Re: throttle switch missing? 200 1981

Maybe someone has switched parts and the manifold you have came from an

82 model? Actually the manifolds, both intake and exhaust are pretty good

right from volvo. The 'bottleneck' is that the motors state of tune is

very conservative for good emissions. Compared to a B21E which would be

the rest of world motor with the same injection that motor had about

125hp.One thing to do to your motor for more power would be to

change the cam to the VX. Like what IPD, and MVP, and others sell. This

is supposedly good for about 12hp and increases the midrange torque and

hp. That should get your motor up to around 118-120hp. The rest of world

version is still going to make more power because I believe it had a

10.0 to 1 compression. Your motor only has about 9.3 if I remember correctly. If you want more power the exhaust is probably the easiest bolt

on improvement.

With the B23E version of these motors that version got 140hp but wasn't legal with emissions. That motor used the K cam which is a bit radical but if you do improve the intake and exhaust its probably a good choice. I believe you could get this setup to pass emissions, one of the guys here, Isaac has put a K cam in his car and seems to be enjoying it now that he's gotten the bugs out. Happy rolling!
