Effect of Low Compression on MPG 700 1989

And that 40% only allows for the losses pre ignition from fuel that was not in the right place to be useful at ignition.

Then after ignition we have a whole lot more power lost from expanding gases escaping and not driving the pistons.

Maybe 30 % again?

But they are not additive, it is not worse by 69% (30% plus 30% plus 9%)

At ignition I have 70%
I lose 30% of 70% (21%) on power stroke from escaping gases leaves me 49%
and I lose 9% from lower compression regardless (of 49% =5%)

I am left with 44% efficiency.

So MPG is lower than half.

Can that be right (it certainly was thirsty).

Am I missing something obvious?
