Effect of Low Compression on MPG 700 1989

I did not say my mpg was measured at 15. That was just an illustration of the possible effect of being 30% down on a compression test, to show there were some $$$ at stake. Currently I think it could be even worse than 15 mpg.

Stupidly the engine is out now, before I thought of claiming for the loss of fuel efficiency, so I can't run the car to find out the current mpg.

Yes the shop is in liquidation, but the credit card company is liable under UK law as they received my money, and it is much easier to proceeed against a credit card company as they are regulated by an Ombudsman who has the power to look at all the evidence in writng and make a binding settlement. No cost to me other than the cost of any reports etc and a qualified mechanic's notes are enough.
