Testing for Spark 200 1979

I used an extra plug. Tomorrow I will pull a plug or two and see and smell if there is fresh gas in there. Seems like it should still fire a bit since there is a spark, but I am getting nothing. The fuel distributor gumming up is worth a look, but it would seem in that case that there would be symptoms instead of just suddenly not start. How do I go about cleaning the fuel distributor? Sounds like a big job. It has never been done, to my knowledge, in the 30 years of this car. Thanks for the help.~ John
