Good work. You've confirmed you have two of the three elements needed for fire, something to burn and ignition. Also, it was a great idea to let that oil mellow in the cylinders some to let them breathe if flooded. Did you smell a lot of gas? I know, subjective question. But you can get an idea if you walk away to clear your nose, come back, pull the dipstick and take a whiff. The gas will dilute the oil. If there's been a lot, your oil level will have risen.
I'm glad Phil has stepped in, because I'm beginning to imagine he's right about something having changed for the worse in the progress we've made. Highest on my list is your short couple of sentences on changing the timing belt, as if it was a monthly routine for you. From Feb. 17: I tried the 5 & 7 also and no spark. However I did look at the timing belt and it looked badly shaved on one side, but not broken. I replaced it, set the marks, put a new tensioner on it, and still no sparky.
Perhaps it was originally spark or fuel missing, but now is compression. However, you really do need a modicum of compression to get fuel - the airflow plate will not lift to direct fuel pressure to the injectors unless the cam is timed well enough to create the intake vacuum. So as Phil suggests, be sure the spark timing (distributor rotor setting) is correct.
If the timing is right, do that test I suggested a few posts back, where you get the pumps running on battery by jumping fuse 5 to 7, and lift the airflow plate to hear the injectors sing. Take a look at one of my favorite flicks kjet bench test video, one I know is also hosted by kjet.org but can't seem to find at the moment.
Give Phil's suggestions some thought, as a broader, fresh point of view, but note your car does not have Hall-effect ignition, nor does it have the safety switch on the airflow meter, and most importantly, your thread length is nowhere near the record on the BB -- not even close, so hang in there. You'll get it. :)
