Hi Vlad! The 2002 sounds nice, but it has the fairly new 5 speed auto tranny which has a tendancy to break. I never liked the 'bare bones' cars, they are frugal but I got used to climate control and power/memory seats.
Don't let the turbos frighten you, they are pretty robust. And gas mileage isn't much worse, 1 or 2 mpg less than the NA cars.
There are a lot of 850s in your local pick&pulls. If you want to go cheap and dependable, get an 855 with a turbo, climate control, and CD radio. Just make sure there are maintenance records available and the AC works. Avoid the "R" models as the sport suspension is too rough.
As always, avoid the 2001. If you want newer, 2003 V70 with the light pressure turbo is quite nice. Of course, another 1998 V70 T5 would be great!!!
