Jim, reinstalling drivers may or may not work. I have seen cases where things like McAfee screwed up networking. These ill-behaved anti-virus programs tend to want to take over everything. I would get rid of McAfee (please use Revo Uninstaller since the ordinary uninstaller can leave behind a lot of crap in the registry and file system). Have MSE downloaded and ready to install before you uninstall McAfee. Install MSE, then go about fixing drivers. Windows 7 is a good system, but honestly, I have a laptop with Vista (latest and greatest) and a laptop with Win7, and I really do not prefer one over the other. I use Win7 more simply because it's on the newer machine that is the "main" family computer, but Vista with all the latest updates is very similar in performance and memory usage. Certain things work better in Win7. For example movie watching. I watch movies on Netflix a lot and when I do it from a Vista machine the screen saver kicks in even when I disable it. Win7 is smart enough to temporarily disable screen saver during movies. Things like that. Not sure if the drivers are any better. Some older machines may not even have drivers for Win7, so you may want to check. Anyway, you can try the windows start-up repair deal. If you need Vista recovery CD I can give it to you. I usually keep these in my tool collection. Also, go to Toshiba website and try to download all the drivers they have for your particular model. Toshiba is pretty good about providing those.
