The faults you mentioned are easily fixed. When you go to Taska for the new door check, pick up a pair of tailgate struts. The rearview mirror glass pops off; turn the mirror all the way in or away from the body, reach your fingers behind the glass near the center and pull it off. The heater element connector is then unplugged from the glass. New mirror pushes into place.
