Where are crank pulley timing marks? S60 2007

That the #1 piston is near TDC is true.
BUT, I don't know how much off TDC it should be.
What I would do is get the engine close to TDC and then start cleaning the back portion of the crank gear between it and the block. Use something small like a Q-Tip. Those marks are there.

I feel your pain. It was awful just trying to "confirm" the timing mark on the S40. But if I was in your position, I would keep trying. As you know, you don't want to be off any.

Some folks say being off one tooth won't make a difference and the engine management system will make up for it. I don't agree with that. There is no way that the car will run as smooth and be as powerful as if it is correctly "in-time".
