You said the cams were 'locked', by securing the rear of both cams? Where did you put the 1/2 socket that was bent? The tensioner was bent because of the belt going backwards? The drill you used makes a lot of racket, yet the noise you heard was loud enough to make you stop? A bent valve will not make that kind of noise.

You rotated the engine by hand... were the spark plugs out at that point? It is not possible to rotate the crank by hand if a valve is in the way.

What makes you think that the cam timing marks were on target? You have CVVT, both cams, and they will give you a false reading unless you rotate the engine 90 degrees past the timing marks and then back to "zero" to releave the tension on the VVT hubs.

You never had the crank in 'zero', otherwise you would have found the timing marks right away??

Time to take stock, breath deeply, relax and put some thought behind your next move.

At most, in NYC, the crooks will charge $2000 for head repair. It should cost around $1200-1500 for a good shop, Volvo indie.
